The elm replica (-;
« on: March 11, 2019, 03:57:29 am »
Hi Folks

After my first Moelle - which was of elm - sadly exploded, I needed a replica. Avoiding any risks of failure I decided to go for a yew sinew combo. I'm happy with it. It's 60 ntn and pulls 42# @ 28".

Big props goes out to my man Wolfgang who provided professional assistance for my first sinewing job. If you have the time you should check his bows - He's not only a fantastic bowyer but a really nice and helpful person (http://bogenbau-wogai.com/).

Thanks for watching.

Cheers

Simon

Nice bow simk. It really doesn't look that stressed on the tree. I would think it should last a long time.

Thanks for the flowers everybody! Yes Don, its heartwood only - heavy lumber machinery damaged the sapwood on this stave so I planed it down, completly flat. And yes, it would be an honor you copying this one, looking forward. Myself I will also do more of these. Cheers

Spent the weekend reading up everything I could on that style. Looks like it'll throw an arrow with authority. Well done.
