Had a chance to finish my privet arrows. they all flew great except two which isnt to bad out of 20. I used left wings from my turkeys the last two years.I used glue on tips at 150-70grs to match my stones and trade points i will cut in after i tuned them with the glue on trad tips. This test worked out great!!! the lowest the bought tips i could find were 100grs. I then cut the tips with a dremal tool to make them 70gr. I did this because some of my stone tips are only 70-90gr. Some of the arrows that were to stiff for even my 64# bow i kept long and used a heavier tip to change the dynamic spine. This worked out also the achieve great flight. Plus this way i didnt need to discard arrows that didnt quite make the cut. I also played with cutting the arrows shorter to achieve greater weight. So everything i read about and watched videos on is the truth and works great. I wished i would of known these tips years ago. I rendered many a arrows to be used as a tomato steak/ marshmallow sticks.I painted the arrows by hand, sinew wrapped fletchings, and cut in snap on locks to all arrows. As i stated in another post privet makes great arrows and straightens great and sands easily. I love the heavy weights you can achieve with them and you are doing good for our woods/forests since they are a invasive species. I painted the arrows to match the three bows i am going to use this season. good luck everyone.

Nice to see you taking the time to bareshaft and tune arrows. It really does open your eyes and improve your arrow flight. Nice results.

I tried privet, my arrows were heavy and tough but were like snakes, nothing could keep them straight.
