Osage rd with hickory back
« on: July 17, 2018, 05:09:24 pm »
Clint gave me a piece of wood with some family history at Marshall this year. Can't remember the exact story I'll let Clint fill that in. was a pretty gnarly piece of Osage  that fought me the whole way.  I must have heated this thing 25 times. at first it started off as a bendy handle not much to handle to work with. Decided I wanted a stiff handled so I decide to build it up. Then I popped a splinter on the back so I decided to glue a hickory back on. The handle is built up with Hickory and Cherry. Zebra wood tips. Horn rest.59 in NTN. solid 55 lb at 26 in.  haven't decided if it's a little too heavy for me yet, I'm going to give it a little bit of time and see if I can put my big boy pants on before taking it down a few pounds. Thanks for looking

Good job, sometimes the ones that fight you the hardest can be the most gratifying. If they turn out :)

I don't know if it's stubbornness or perserverance  but no matter you ended up with a very nice looking bow to boot.Nice work. That cherry should finish up nice.

Awesome work Paul. The tiller looks spot on w/ a very respectable weight. Looking at it, you'd never know the wood gave you such a run for your money.  :BB

Nice, Paul! Love that bend.

I can see why you might want to leave it as is...looks perfect. What glue did you use for the backing?
