Someone just asked me if I was still on here! So I thought I' should post up my latest.
It's from a Yew stave that was given me as a roughed out bow (bark still on which was a good thing) that had been started but wasn't going to get finished, the tips had been roughed out alarmingly slim while the rest of the bow was only just flexing when tested floor tiller style.
The stave was only 61.5" long so not much to spare, but it so happened a bloke wanted a primitive with a 26" draw and this looked just the job.
There's a good few knots and an area where a cross branch had been chaffing, which gives it some character.
40# @26" it's shoots fast and straight.
I knew it was a good bow when I took the first test shot, 10 yards, smack into the middle of a 2" square of white foam plastic, I took two more shots, they both hit... at that point I quit 'cos I was beginning to scare myself
It lobs my standard 400gn field arrow about a yard short of 180 yards, it would be interesting to have tried a decent flight arrow.
I shipped it to the guy and got this Email back with a picture of a nice tight group on a target
Bow arrived 30 minutes ago. Set nock. Warmed it up .
Third end 20 yards on a 40 cm face.
Beautiful bow shoots like a dream. Into the woods tomorrow and some 3ds. Many thanks Derek.
