Thank you again guys.
My taste tends to lean towards very simplistic design and finish. I see so many Beautiful, meticulously finished bows on here and I’m very humbled by the artistic skill and patience it takes to finish a bow out like that.
Patience isn’t my strong suit, and has caused several bow failures early on for me, so now I take it snail paced slow and come out with a useable bow most times....
However by the time I shoot one in, its all I can do to slap some oil and a piece of leather on it.
At one point I had a few tillered bows shot in and sitting in the corner of the shop bare for months before giving them away for someone else to finish.
Ironically though, I usually start laying out a new stave, or pulling bark etc to prepare the next victim as soon as I get the last shot in.

How did you stain it?
I mixed black powdered rit dye with alcohol. My hopes was to do a few coats for a dark gray, but it made it purple. I kept adding coats till it was dark and rubbed a few coats of walnut danish oil on it and it took the purple away.
