Hi all,
Winter 2006 I found a hackberry (celtis australis)(I live in Spain) log in a wood-fire pile, and it was starting to damage because it seemed to be outdoors several months.
I decided to try a bow of it, and to profit the Y form that it has to make a splice and obtain a recurved from it.
I started this winter, but it has been in stand-bye to yesterday.
It hasn't handle and string yet, but this weekend I'll meke them
It's 62"1/2 ntn, 35# at 27", 1"5/8 (41mm) at widest point of the limb, tapering to 9/16 at tips (13.5mm).
I'll try to make a full draw pic today, and also of handle when finished.

Really nice looking weapon-I like the way you used that fork to make the naturally-shaped recurves, now I'll be looking for forked trees. :) Great profile, looks like a good shooter.

I don't see how it could get any better than that-you nailed the tiller on that one.  8)
