Hey there guys how's it going? I visited a museum in Carson City, NV and there were two bows from the Great Basin, so had to be Paiute or Shoshone. One of the bows was about 36 inches long and the other about 42 inches long. So I have a piece of western juniper pretty much worked to final dimensions and almost ready to be backed with sinew. The bow is about 1.5 inches wide at handle and just tapers to about 3/4 inch pin nocks. My question is, does anyone think a bow this narrow will support a 45 - 50 pound draw? Surely these bows pulled a heavy draw to take down deer. Also I know it might be hard to tell but the handle is 3/4 inches thick, midlimb 5/8 thick, nocks 3/8 thick, do you guys think I left it thick enough for a 50 pound bow? I plan having about 6 inches of reflex in the finished bow if that makes a difference. Thanks!
