Removing hhb cambium

Im feeling a bit frustrated trying to remove the cambium layer on hhb to the point of switching over to strictly sugar maple for ease of removal. Any tips or suggestions to removing it without comprosing the back? Im working some staves with plenty of bumps, dips and undulations.

Clewis, I was at the same point. I had a bunch of winter harvested staves that were full of undulations. I've made bows leaving some cambium on but I really wanted a clean back. I used our hosty power washer figureing I had nothing to lose. It work great I posted a thread a while ago title removing Bark and cambium with power washer. I did something like 1 Elm and 19 HHB staves in 2 1/2 hours with backs that looked like summer harvested staves. Not sure if it'll work on all woods but great on HHB and Elm.

What how much psi do you think it would take? Its still frigid cold where I am but definitely worth looking into this spring.

Clewis click on that thread D.C. Put up it's the one I started it has pictures and whole story. Our washer has hot water but I turned it off and it worked with cold to but much faster with hot. It's a high pressure washer. It took about 2 minutes to clean a stave to a perfect back.

Glad to hear someone else tried it swamp thang. How many quarters did it take? Let us know how it worked
