My most egregious mistake was when I attempted to cold bend the steel trigger guard to make it fit the stock and snapped it in two. I bought another guard, a torch and made some bending jigs - lesson learned. I also had a devil of a time with the pins that were supplied in the kit. They are hardened steel and I couldn't cut through them or file them down. I finally discovered that a Dremel cutter disk took care of that problem. And learning how to inlet was interesting. It looked easy enough on paper, but it takes some practice to get competent at it (and sharp chisels!). In retrospect I should have practiced on a piece of scrap before chiseling away on my gun. I almost made an irreparable mistake when I discovered that my spike was not secure and moved while drilling my tang bolt hole. I got lucky and had just barely enough clearance to make it work. And don't even get me started about making the wedge slots - the first one was a mess but I figured it out by the third one. Hint, keep your bench clean so that if any chips fly away from your stock when you don't expect it, you can find them and glue them back in.
