Andice from flake

This was a flake of central TX material that a friend gave me.
I direct percusioned the preform then notched it from the bottom with a sharp nail flaker, then micro flaked the edges with the nail.
This was the first time I ever notched one from the bottom. It worked really good.
I always get the mid section of the base too narrow on these, but it was a fun change up.
another thing I did different than usual was I used a fine abrader. I normally use a really coarse one and grind the crap out of the edges, but I always had issues that I didn't seem to have on this one. Seemed to take less force to detach flakes.

1442 you are a knapping machine man. As said you really are talented and I love the materials you come up with too. Heck of a notch my poor old clumsy fingers would probably have trouble wrapping that deep notch on a shaft. I know I'd of had to use the super glue to notch that one if I didn't stall out a little ways in. Thanks for sharing

This is not Kinley rock. It was a wide flake off a central texas tab. The material just under the cortex is the best and usually most colorfull. This flake was all good stuff from right under it.
I've seen a flake core of this stuff that looked like a massive biface, but they would just remove flakes from near the surface to use and discard the biface core.
