Alone Bow

I have been working on the bow for the guy who is to appear in the Alone show and have it pretty well done, he wants to apply the finish on the bow himself. The bow is a Maple backed Yew recurve D bow. I started out with a 5/8" thick by 1.5" wide, 63" long Yew slat, some excellent wood that Ryan (Wizardgoat) sent me. I steam bent the recurves in then glued a 1/8" thick Maple backing reflexing the bow to give it 4.5" reflex off the form. Now Richard has a loooong draw of 31" which is pushing it a bit for a 63" bow. I tillered the bow out to just under 60# @ 31". Here's a couple pictures
I took the bow out this morning and shot it few times. He is not going to be disappointed with the performance, it is blazingly fast

Easy carrying, light weight bow. Nice tiller, Marc.

Great bend Mark, though if it was mine i would have went a little longer as it is a survival situation and would rather have a few more inches for longevity. But I'm sure that's what he wanted

Maybe this season someone will try to put one to use. I know that in the beginning net fishing and trapping are the right strategies but I see these folks get into the later stage where they have a routine worked out and their getting bored and getting tired of fish etc, that's when these folks need to take their bow and go hunting, I've seen them bring them in their gear but never use them even when they reach the appropriate stage. Well enough of that rant, lol, very nice bow there Marc!

That is a beautiful bend as always Marc, your bends really are perfect. I really kinda like that Alone show. They have some interesting people on there. I sure hope we get to see Richard get something with it. Really nice bow.

Thanks guys.
After tillering and shooting it she still maintains 3 1/2" of reflex right after taking the string off. The handle works a bit which certainly helps with the long draw.
Chronographing the bow is not important.
The arrow is camo wood
One can always find a use for good Yew and that is top grade wood
