Any body have any thoughts for a good temperature to keep the hot box?
I built a hot box last fall. I can use up to 3 light bulbs that are controlled by a dimmer switch. I also put in a thermometer that has a built in humidity meter...just a cheap one, but it does pretty good.
I dried a few staves over the winter and kept the box around 85 or 90 F and with the humidity being low outside, the meter also showed low humidity. Now that we are going into spring and the humidity is starting to go way up, so is the humidity in the box.
I’m not as concerned about Osage staves that have been air dried, I think they’re a little more stable. Bamboo and hickory seem to take on moisture easier, and I was wondering if there is any way to make sure no more moisture is being absorbed by the wood.
