Hello from Hawaii
« on: August 07, 2016, 08:41:20 pm »
Not new to archery, but i am new to primitive archery. I have been a long time lurker of different forums, FB, and youtube channels, but my returned interest in primitive archery has compelled me to create an account. I look forward to getting my hands on a hunting bow in the near future and taking some game from here on the islands.

Aloha!

Get some cherry guava (waiwi). Good 6"dia,  tree clear of low branches, split it in half, leave bark on and put up out weather to dry. Make a really great selfbow.

Good to meet ya, North! I visited the islands last summer and wished the whole trip that I'd a brought a bow. Looked like some good huntin on some of the islands (Maui) and if not the scenery would surely stop the bus. Anyway, take us along on your journey and don't be afraid to ask questions. Everyone of us started at zero so we know the feeling.

Welcome North! As Smag said, Strawberry Guava seems to be your best choice of wood on the islands , it'll make some fine bows!

Welcome to PA north. I'm sure you'll like it here lots of good people with lots of different ideas and talents. Don't be afraid to ask questions you might get a bunch of different answers but that doesn't make them wrong. Just have to pick the one that makes the most sense to you love to visit the islands some day on my bucket list
