Micro Wave, oh my!

I just wanted to show everybody how easy it is bending wood with a Micro Wave oven.
I wrapped the end of this Cascara with wet rags and stuck it through the door of the oven. Set it on Bake Potato, 3.5 minutes, pulled it out and it bent like butter to where I wanted.

The micro wave cost $5 at the Flea Market and I cut two holes through it with a hole saw. And, I don't have a Pacemaker.

Gotta agree with DC.. The joist hanger is a great idea.

So will it work with all woods. Hickory and osage in paticular.

I've used it for hickory, osage, vine maple and eastern cedar.

Baked potato? I picked it because I don't know how to set the time and temperature, it worked.

Bubby, cut the holes through the sheet metal and plastic, not electric.

I can't tell from the picture--the holes go straight through the microwave?  What did you cut them with and how did you know you wouldn't hit anything critical and electrocute yourself to death?

if the microwave is at lest 5 years old it can be considered primitive,, ,, but I am still scared of that thing with the holes in it, that looks  ,, well scary,,

No. I don't leave the room. I stuff the two holes with wet rags.

The holes go straight through, It doesn't take much to figure out which end has all of the electric, look for the holes where the fan is and unplug it before you cut into it. I used a hole saw on the end of my drill.

If you are afraid to use it, google micro wave and make a tin foil hat. Do you think the rags do anything different then the thin plastic you have your face pressed to watching your pizza slice heat up?

While trying to research this method a while back there wasn't much that said safe or un safe on the internet. It did say the waves travel in a straight line from one side to the other, there is something that transmits and something that receives. this is why food has to rotate to heat even. something dry doesn't heat. It's the water that is affected. wood works well. The holes as Mullet has them should be safe as far as I could tell. I don't think I would stand with my lower waist directly in front of the hole while using this way tho.
