Has anyone ever smoke a big ol piece of pork shoulder and a deer hide at the same time?
Or is it totally different smoke.
Just ask'n?  Guess I'm getting hungry...:)

D Bar, When I smoke my hides I use punk wood dry and crumbly and my smoke is coming out of pipe and into 2 deer hides made into a bag, I believe pork shoulder would drip grease all over your hides and make a mess. Now on another note I have been known to take a marinated pork lion and put on a squirrel cooker over a bed of coals for 3 hrs and turn every 15 minutes while flintknapping or smoking hides or just overall puttering projects that I can tend to both at the same time, Now I'm getting hungry for some pork lion. ;D ;D Bob

Rob, I did the flesh side first and smoked about 45 min. Wasn't quite the color I was looking for so did the grain side about 1 hr. and 15 min. lots of variables  heat and how much smoke ya getting. Just be careful of leaving it and have flames flare up and burn your hide or scorch it :o :(  So say an hr. each side and only 6 months to totally air out :o :o ;D  Bob
