First bow finally finished
« on: February 26, 2016, 05:18:51 pm »
I actually finished it at Christmas but I've only just got around to taking some pictures...

Lilac longbow for my 4-year old. 41" NTN, 15#@18". The wood came from a client's garden and no power tools have touched it from plant to bow. Mary Rose type side nocks, 4 strand linen string with half the strands dyed with blackberry. Finished with a couple of coats of beeswax. The ends and arrows are ugly as sin but I'm still working out what I'm doing and how I want things to look, plus I didn't want to wreck it.

Top limb:

Bottom limb:

Whole bow unbraced with arrows:

Braced:

Full draw:

Another full draw:

And finally boy with bow on Boxing Day:

Any learning points gratefully received.

Betcha he's trying to sleep with it. Congrats!

Thank you all - now I need to get on with my bow so we can get out together! It's annoying when work takes up so much time...
