When did this thread make a sharp turn?

I think they've all finished their bows and don't have anything to talk about

ADD sucks.....I like this one a lot, to. Very solid, very clean, and very old.

Looks like you made a decision on which bow to build

This thing is cool A-a-ron. Its dark from age, has thin rings so the belly side looks very cool as it feathers out and sways side to side. This will be the most challenging build yet for me. I'll get the dog leg out with steam.

Good luck with getting that one lined up Pearly. I know you will tame it down into a bow.
I started to scrape away on the red bow with the knot holes. A few minutes into it and something shiny caught my eye. It's a chunck of lead. I thought it was a small pellet and tried to dig it out. It looks like a little bit larger size shot. The deeper I dug the bigger it got. I was wondering why there wasn't any knots on the belly side of those holes. Now it makes sense. Somebody peppered this tree with a shotgun probably in the 70's or 80's. I'll keep scraping away at it. I'm not sure how deep they are. Might be a chance those are .22 rounds. This will make the second time I've found ammo inside of a stave.

So those 3 "knots" on the left stave are really bullet wounds?

It's looking that way Aaron. I'm guessing there are more than 3 bullets in it. The one I've uncovered is just a small knot on the back. It isn't one of the bigger holes. This one must have penetrated deeper than the other ones. I hope I can leave some of them in the limbs. That would look cool. I'm thinking they are .22's.

A 16 gauge slug bounces off osage trees Patrick. I found that out last deer season when my son missed a nice buck. We found the flattened slug at the base of an osage tree. A 44 mag. will blow right through 2" of osage.
