Dragonman, the  walls aren't very thick, if you can scroll over the pix I posted that's pretty much to scale--maybe the width of 7 or 8 tightly pressed sheets of notebook paper.

I would like to see everyone's 2 piece take-down systems. I have a couple billets I may tear into a later this year. Thanks in advance

Did this one a while ago.  Its an FG handle.  My first,  easy to do but you must do a precise job on the billet ends for the handle any major differences between the 2 pieces and you will struggle fitting the handle.
I used release on both pieces so I could gauge a better fit in the end.  I would think the fiberglass handle to be lighter.

Challenge yourself    after all what is life without a challenge.  Boredom will set in...

Would you have to worry about the wood inner handle deteriorating from take down use with just the single sleeve (talking about the first picture posted). Also how long would the handle have to be to make such a joint safe?
