New Project
« on: October 29, 2015, 10:29:03 am »
This has been in the works for over a year. Hunter Bob traded this stave to Tyke. Tyke gave it to me. I gave it back to Tyke when he was out of bow wood (Begrudgingly). Tyke  quit making bows in the spring to make knives. Last week he gave it back. It was still bark on when I gave it back to Tyke.

The inside of the knot has a crack on the top and bottom, directly in the center line. Next on the list is to finish single ringing it. The limbs are done, and the bottom side of the knot. The stave is 60 inches, the knot is about 7 inches above center. The line below the knot is the center of the bow.

What advice would you throw out?

Give it back to Tyke!  ;D  >:D  ;) Just kidding.
At that length you better get as much wood bending as possible. Put some cross hairs in the hole for a Texas peep site.  ;)

I made a bow almost exactly like that, knot hole cracks and all. Its name is "Mullet". It's probably posted around June/July of 2013. Not sure it will help, but proof it can happen. I believe the bow is 50 @ 27 61-62"? I haven't touched it or looked at it in a few years.

Give it back to me because i think it came from my pile originally...lol 😁

Make sure to follow the flow better and smoother around that hole...one side has to sharp of a taper after it and isnt following the grain as well as it should be. Cross ur fingers, say a prayer, and yank it back without fear ;)

This chunk of wood is gonna teach me how to go slow. It has so far.
Good to hear that it came from another person as well.
