Nice bow and I am still trying to connect on a elk with a selfbow. I better hurry though cause I know what it takes to elk hunt at 10000 ft.  Congrats on your bow Arvin.

Very nice bow and a great adventure turned tradition.  Hope you get one next year.  It's pretty neat getting that close to a rutting bull isn't it  :)

Thanks guys. The elk I was hunting weren't quite 10000 feet. They were down around 8200 ish.

Matt- it's definitely worth the effort. 8)

I've had 2 opportunities to elk hunt in the San Juan Mts in SW Colorado and would do it again in a minute. We hunted between 9k and 10k but the elk forgot to show up. We did hear a few bugles but had no close encounters.
Very nice bow and plenty of weight for elk. Hopefully you'll get one next year. You'd better start saving up now though.  ;)

Great looking bow, Dave and it's always magic times in the Rockies. I miss living there, even the cold weather isn't bad.

Man, I enjoyed this post!  That is a beautiful bow and some awesome photos.  Sounds like a great trip.  That is certainly on my bucket list.  I agree with Soy, that is a serious looking arrow too.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone! Here are a few more pics of Colorado.

This is the knife I traded for with sleek. It's a good heavy blade. Quite the workhorse.

I'm not sure what this wild flower is but I know when you rub it on yourself it makes a wonderful natural cover scent, and it can be found almost everywhere.

This is a pretty knarly spider that kept crawling into my pack.

I might have some more pics in a few days from other people.
