« on: August 14, 2015, 09:28:33 am »
Just saw this on Facebook. I had not heard of Archery Tag before this. Has anyone tried this?

It would be fun for awhile. I've done Demos' catching arrows and once you figure it out you can dodge them pretty easy. But it would still be fun.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Was taught to NEVER shoot a weapon when someone was down range. This archery tag video seems to be the rage.

It was fun shooting at Mullet at my first Camp-O-Rama a few years back. ;D

That looks fun, but if you want something more period, like shooting at folks in full combat armor, look up SCA Combat Archery. Unlike this archery tag, the SCA is everywhere, you probably have a local group and don't even know it.

I saw Primitive Tim take a bolo around the ankles and crash into the dirt.  He got up and started to run and took an arrow to the knee.  Down again.

Good thing he is low enough on the evolutionary chain to regenerate.  Last I heard the cub sasquatch was somewhere in California!  Seems the Black Hills were a little too cold and violent for his tastes!  Hehehe.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Oh, BTW, those arrow blunts they are using for archery tag were invented by someone in the SCA specifically for combat archery, they are called Baldar Blunts after Duke Baldar their inventor.
