Osage sliver

So I got this piece I chased a ring on and it may make a bow. We'll see. It has super tight rings. Not a knot on it. But it's skinny. Did the best I could with layout as it was skinny after splitting. Getting back to basics. 62" NtN ATM. Plan on reflexing a bit and giving it hell.

The back is flat, like pain in the butt flat. So it has a few small islands I'll have to finish removing. I may just take it down another ring with my scraper. I don't like the thin rings lol. But man it's a heavy little sucker. It's pretty dense. Some of the Osage I cut last year.

In the picture the tip is about 1/2" wide or so. Give ya a size reference

So I got this thing bending. It's rather thick still, so I have concerns. Would the thin rings mean I'll have a thicker cross section in the limbs?

I see the bow, I would go for a rounded belly on that one.

Those osage slivers can make fine bows and usually don't require much effort...I'm a bit envious

You would think with the ratio of early to growth it wouldn't be that dense. I am speaking purely from hearsay I have only had the privilege of working two Osage stave both which had fairly thick rings. I think it should make a nice stick. I kinda like the smaller Osage staves not as much machete work  ;D

fwiw.   when i went to Parnells house he had a skinny little osage bow that couldn't have been bigger than that stave you have there... i was scared to pull it *(first time touching an osage bow) and kept commenting how dainty and frail it looked..

i was wrong.. i believe his was ~55#@28...  out of a tiny little sliver of a stick...
