Maple backed Osage Recurve
« on: March 18, 2015, 04:17:44 pm »
Been awhile since I posted a bow so here is one I just finished.  A fellow contacted me a a couple months ago who wanted give a bow to his wife for Valentines Day.  Unfortunately I was too busy to do that for him but he wanted me to build his wife one anyway.  Here is what I built his wife

The bow is Osage backed with Maple, 64" long and pulls 45# @ 27", tillered to 28".  I steamed the recurves, heat-treated/bent the billet limbs on this one and then glued in the rest of the reflex.  It started with close to 6" of reflex and kept close to 3", she shoots a compound so she will appreciate the extra performance.  It is fast.  There's no finish on the bow, she is an artist and plans on doing some decorating

I like the way you connect the billets at the handle in your bows.

I just love the profiles of those bows of yours Mark.  Tiller looks spot on as usual.  Great job.

Nice bow.  I thought Osage was more tension strong than maple..?

Very nice! Is the arrow rest wood or leather? I really like the look of it.
