Got my piece on a short string today. As u can see the limbs are naturally off set by about 11/2". There's a big knot in the middle of the handle, that gives it a pretty comfortable grip. The limb off set has been a challenge to equal lut the limbs, but i think i've got em close. Hope u can see the pics ok.

I built a bow like that once. Same reason, had a knot in the handle. Shot it many times then donated it to a museum.

That is wild.  Is that on the same ring?

Ajooter, can't you work around that check, maybe with an extra narrow tapering limb and tip, or tapering to the good side of the stave? If not, 57" is enough for a stiff handle as long as you don't draw as far back.  Sidewinder just made a shorty that he will posting soon.

Well, it's bending.  I tillered it using my gizmo, but I still don't know if it's right.  I tried to keep it a little stiffer around the knot hump on the top limb and at the tips.  I'm a few pounds over the 45# I'm trying to hit, but I still have to do the finish sanding.  One thing I know for certain is that Osage rocks!  And so does Danny.  Thanks again for the stave!

Man that looks nice to me. You did'nt know the catch when I sent it to ya was that if you made a good shooter out of it you had to send it to me for testing and approval...did ya?

Just kidding.
You could probabley stop right there and be satisfied but if you want to do a little more scrapping it might be on that upper knot belly a little and see if you can get it to come around just a smidge.

  • If the wood will bend, I'll make it beautiful!

Man I like the shape of that one! Did you say that Osage is a rock? Ooh, you said it rocks! You can probably see where I would get confused. Osage is tough stuff in both aspects! Patrick
