Pyrography Designs On The Back
«

Hi Guys.
In my efforts to make my bows look better and turn then in to pieces of art, I was wondering-
if I`ll use a wood burner (I hope it`s called this way...) to make pyrography designs on the
bow`s back, will it damage the bow? will it still be safe to shoot? And what if I only do it on the handle and fades,
should I risk it?
Thanks in advance,
Dor

If you use the wood burner only on a non-working area like the handle and fades you should be OK. I would worry about lifting a splinter on the working portions of the bow if you burned a design into the back of the limbs.
India ink would work.

If you do some digging around you should find some fully quartersawn Molly's that halfeye carved on the back, you might pm rich and talk to him about it, although to me a plain ol 'dee bow is pretty good looking

i get a bad feeling about wood burning on the back,,you can make them look artistic without compromising the back,, I am sure it can and has been done,, but seems a little risky,,
