First explosion

My favorite mesquite bow exploded on me at about 300 shots


 just missed hitting my eye too.

But you got about 300 glorious shots thru YOUR OWN BOW!  That's only about 300 more than most people in the world ever shoot.  Call it a dark victory, tell the bow thanks for it's time with you.  And then move on. 

Good bows do not grow on trees, but good bow wood sure as heck does!!!

The first ones always hurt most, well fo me anyway the best I have built was my first.  Perfect glue lines and very straight.. :'(

The fact that both limbs broke at the same time means i either had an even tiller or both limbs were flawed equally?

Its mesquite. Its never been considered a bow wood really, and for good reasons. I suppose Id be happy you got 300 shots from the ol' gal! Some woods just aren't meant to bent back and forth very many times, no matter the tiller or design. Each of your limbs broke where the brunt of the work is done.
