How to quite arrow draw
« on: September 12, 2014, 07:40:44 pm »
As the time gets closer and I get more excited about opening day, I have a question for you experienced hunters.  I have only hunted one season with my selfbow and didn't harvest one but my question or concern is that when I draw my arrow back I hear the arrow sliding one the rest.  Is there any way for me to make that as quite as possible?  Thanks

Leather or the soft side of Velcro works great.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

I use a floppy rest on my bows and it incorporates a strike plate with it's soft leather.
The self stick Velcro(soft part) works well too.

Make a bow without the rest and shoot off your hand.
Tread softly and carry a bent stick.

What kind of arrow rest do you have?  Is it wood or antler?  Pearl and Pat gave you some good advice.  I've recently switched from leather to the velcro for the strike plate.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

A piece of felt, or wool blanket, on you rest will solve that. ;)

put it on the strike plate also. ;)

I use moleskin.  Its cheap, easy, thin, quiet, and I always have some in my pack to deal with blisters.
I should know better.
