A fried of mine gave me an Osage log he'd bought from Easter Europe of the interweb. I said I'd make him a bow and there would be one for myself too.
Anyhow the Osage wasn't the best, but I made him this NA style bow, based loosely on the Choctaw bow on p52 of TBB vol 2.
He can decorate it, make a decent string and have some fun with it.
For the full draw shot I used the NA arrow with stone tip that Rich (Half Eye) gave me, it adds to the picture.
It's only the second time I've used Osage and it great stuff, it just loves bending, but certainly likes to run along the grain and give you splinters. It also helped me see why you guys use a scraper more for tillering, I found my drawknife used edge on like a giant scraper would take off lovely shavings without snagging the grain whilst leaving a good clean surface. It was supposed to be 40# at 26" but I've had trouble getting the weight down, oh boy that stuff it tough
so it's nearer 45# (well that's what I'm telling him
