I love primitive archery! (Not for BOM)
« on: July 10, 2014, 04:23:02 pm »
I've been making and breaking bows now since around 1990.
I've had so much fun and I've met so many nice folks.

Anyway, here is my latest bow. It's made from a hickory stave. 47# at 26 in.

Kind of a tease. This may end up in an article for PA which I need to put the finishing touches on.
We'll see.

Here are some wild rose arrows I made for my daughter for a shoot.
The shafts came from my backyard.

Thanks for looking. It's been awhile since I posted some photos.

Another nice bow from you George. Love to see it whenever you post a bow. Do you know how many people you coerced to become addicted?
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

Thanks, Del. It is good to be seen!

Thanks, Rich. That bow came from a clean stave for sure.

Thanks, PD. I wonder who that old guy is, too. But I'm still having fun. I just don't make as many as I used to. But the new guys have stepped right in nicely which is good to see.

Thanks, Fred. That is good to hear. I've just tried to always portray by bow making as fun.

Thanks, dwardo.

As a newbie who "knows" George only from his forum posts and, most importantly, from his site articles . . . I thought exactly the same thing!!  But, in George's case, I'm sure "he doesn't get older, he just gets better" applies.  And these pics seem to confirm that.

Mmmmm, what can anyone say...it bends right!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Thanks, Knoll and JW.
Hickory is really a good bow wood. Clean staves make for nice tillers.

Nice Jawge! it's always been a pleasure when you post a bow, glad to see you are still at it. Seems like I've slowed down also. I've been making them and giving them away lately, but not posting as many as I used to. I've got a new computer and it's a pain to download pictures and then post them.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?
