Box of Chert: Sweetwater, Tx
« on: March 13, 2014, 01:50:24 am »
I collected this box of rocks today, never flintknapped so have a lot of test rocks to work on, found a shed also today that I might be able to use for knapping or a knife.
Endless supply of rock out here.
Anyone know what kind it is or have ever worked with this?

It looks like some good stuff.  Only .95 tons need to complete your training. ;)

Texas has great rock. I can not tell what the core looks like from the picture. I may not know what I am looking at. Can you break some of the cortex off so I can see what is inside. I also think most Texas rock needs some heat treating???
Wish I had good Texas rock near me...awesome
