would you like to see a video produced on reduction?
« on: January 14, 2014, 09:01:14 am »
A point made from a random rock or difficult stone takes time to reduce with antler.  This would be a kinda slow and boring video unless your into the finer points of ABO reduction. This would be a long slow paced video that would explain platform prep based on various situations and where hammerstone might work better than antler in some situations. If you guys are interested it will take about a week to make it and post it. Every ABO knapper does thing just a little differently so this would just be a demo on the process that I am currently using.

Ok cool, and yep his videos are awesome and very well put together. I like the camera angles he gets in them.

Always!

Also, John, I think it would be great to have a single thread with all of your videos and you could just add on if and when you make more.  Preferably a sticky thread so folks do not have go hunting for them.

If you guys think it's a good idea, I can start a new thread called "Flintknapping Videos by PA Forum Members" and make it sticky.  You can place links to your videos there, as long as you are not selling anything, in your post.  You can edit your post later if you make more videos.  That way, all your videos will be under one post and easy to find.

Sound good?

WOW u see u guys came up with a new idea and will surely improve PA and the flint knapping section.  Since I switched to Abo tools Im strictly interested in other Abo knappers and tools and techniques.  My videos are od and cruddy but I have dramatically improved I skill over the years too.  One thing that PA and youtube need is more ABO videos!  Good Idea and John Iowabow make that video..I will look forward to seeing it!  Thanks Patrick too for making it happen!  Would I be asking too much or I will just throw it out there for a later date...I was thinking about having a section for Point type and profile, perhaps with detailed pictures and drawing, maybe with written instruction on how to create that point.  and then maybe folks can post there attempts..not sure if u understand me..maybe I don't understand me...
