Ok, I'm knapping.
« on: December 20, 2013, 05:45:43 pm »
I've been trying to figure this stuff out for years.  Over the last 3-4 weeks I've been at it probably 4-5 times a week.  I'm finally starting to get it, a bit.  I've made a few other bird points that have gone out but this is what I've produced in probably 2 weeks.  The white one in the first picture is a touched up flake that Bonepile gave me and I sharpened it.  It's going on a hunting arrow that I'll use for hogs this January.  The second picture is what I've done the last three days.  One a day, top one this afternoon, middle yesterday, bottom Wed.

I'm hooked, finally.

Looks like you've got the bug. Some nice starter points there!

Well, I'm on break for 2 weeks.  I figured it's time to start to work on knapping at night.  Don't mean to make you cold weather fellas jealous or anything...I'll be outside...without a shirt on...and flip flops.

OOOOH, must be that Mystical feel?? ::) And no mosquitos where you're at. Man, you are doing good and like I said on the phone, you will have it easier and probably learn faster if you heat treat some of that. Those are some killer' points, too.

You can keep the warm weather.  I like the cooler days for knapping.

Excellent points!  Looks like you will be a machine!
