I started a new project of Crimea Tatar.
54" long, grip 12 cm, limb 32 cm, kasan 18 cm, tip 12 cm
materials:
All core - maple (Acer campestre), tips - White Oak

Current status of the process.

Thanks for sharing that.Looks sweet.Are you going to groove parts?You've posted so many nice bows in the past.Here's another attempt by me showing my first attempt and then the second.The second has more set back before sinewing.Both grooved and horn attached.What do you think?I hav'nt tillered my first attempt,and need to sinew my second attempt yet.Wood used is ironwood,hickory,mulberry,and elm.

Excuse my ignorance, ( I know very little about the composite bows ) but why splice in the handle section?  Does it help add reflex without stressing the wood ? I think I may have answered my own question but am still interested in your response.

@Beadman - your attempts looks good for now. Yes, will show groove parts. You can turn the shoulders back in reflex with sinewing.

@RidgeRunner - yes it is

@ lostarrow - splice in the handle section makes the bow lighter. This reduces overall weight and makes a bow shorter, but also can be made from whole core.

That's exactly the way I do my grooving too opukc.My grooves are about 10 grooves to the inch.Do you start with a guide first to get a straight line then finish up the depth of the grooves too.Thanks for doing this opukc.I could of with mine too did'nt.

Beadman - I get a e-mail.
I used plastic line guide to start first. First easier, after that everything is OK..I prefer these  grooves, but you can do deeper.
