Cant string my warbow. HELP
« on: November 01, 2013, 10:57:01 pm »
Having just received my first warbow (100lb at 32) I have a slight problem, I can't seem to string the bow using a double loop stringer. Either I don't possess the strength to do it or I'm doing something completely wrong. I did make the stringer myself using two separate pieces of parcel string for strength. I can't seem to lift the bow past my belly button area with one hand.

Advice appreciated!

Your bastard string is either too stretchy, too long, or both.

Definatly sounds like its too long if you are having to get it up to your belly button. You can try (I've done this) get it as high as you can then bend your knees to get stomach under the string then stand up again.
Pic. would definitely help :)

I just had the same prob.
I bought some 4mm hemp rope on line, it stretched a little, but soon settled down and does the job nicely.
Mind it needs substantial nock grooves.
You have to make it it only just long enough so you can stretch it to get it on. If it is easy to get on, it is too long.
Almost anything will stretch a bit.

Paracord is the only stuff I've found that works for high poundage warbows.

Yup, I use 550 paracord, stretches very little. Takes knots very well, holds em when needed, and can be untied when needed as well. Makes great tiller strings too.

Thanks for all the replies. I also think I might be strong enough to  pull the bow to the required height to get the string on :(

Must be something I'm doing wrong!?

Are you putting both feet on the stringer? One to either side of your hand on the bow?
