Here's the rifle I was telling you about.  This is a .22-250 in a howa1500 mauser style action that my grandpa built for me for Christmas last year.  This is bitter-sweet because this is also the last custom rifle my grandpa built before retiring from gun making.  Even at 90, grandpa was still getting it done with style.  He just can't stand there that long and do it anymore.  The other little rifle is a golden boy Henry my dad gave me for Christmas since my daughters laid claim to my other Henry's.  That .22-250 shoots like a dream!  Josh

This may sound stupid but ive never heard of a 22-250 before. Does it fire normal. 22caliber rounds or what? Ive shot and owned many rifles and shotguns but for some reason never heard or come into contact with a 22-250.

The parent cartridge is the 250-3000 Savage, that in turn is necked from .25 cal down to .22 cal. When I was younger it was a wildcat but now is readily available as a factory round. Real quick, real flat, and smoking accurate.

Thanks fellas!  I am truly blessed in a lot of ways.  One of which is to have such long lived grandparents.  I didn't lose any of them until 3 yrs ago.  I even had most of my great grandparents until after I went to bootcamp.  By the time I got out of the corps they were all gone, but most don't have them that long.  I'm obviously quite proud of my grandpa and his abilities.  There aren't many old school craftsmen like him left.  I have ten of his customs tucked away now.  Every one of them is a masterpiece of the craft and all are tack drivers.  If I ever get half as good as him at anything I do, I'll die happy.  Thanks again fellas!  Josh

Nah, not biased at all Josh. That is a fine rifle there! Your granpaw is a master at his craft. Sure beats my ol Remington 22-250!!

I think the 22-250 is about the finest cart, there is !
But what do I know !!
I had a pre64 Winchester Model 70 chambered for 22-250 it had a heavy barrel for varmint hunting ! what a rifle shoot dimes from 100 yrds all day long !! No problem taking out crows from 350 yrds !
Me being not so bright traded it and it is gone ! but I still have my 1950's Winchester 43 in 22Hornet and since I can't see dimes from 300 yrds it is all I need !
