Nerve Damage?
« on: October 18, 2013, 10:36:51 pm »
Hey, guys. After shooting today, I find that I can't lift my left pinky finger (I shoot right handed). It isn't numb; I just can't lift it. It may be unrelated, but I was wondering if anyone's ever experienced something similar.

Can you curl it in?

Once curled in, does it feel like your forearm is cramping when you try to pull it back up?

If that is the case, make your way to your doctor as soon as possible (as in yesterday) to get it looked at, you may have lost the tendon that operates the finger.  Surgery is possible to re-attach, but you do NOT want to wait.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

It has since subsided. I was able to curl it. The issue went away within about five or six hours.

I got nerve damage in my ring finger from shooting heavy bows without a glove for many repetitions.  Took several months to get the feeling back in it.  I use a nice thick tab now to keep it happy.
