3rd try sense ive been back at it.
Tried to copy the famous Colbert Co Cumberland.
Got it next to cast for comparison. Made from Ky hornstone.
1st pic shows cross section before 1st flute.

 Old ones were fluted by pressure too but no one knows for sure what sorta contraption they used.

by far the thinnest cumberland ive made.  thinnest spot on the base is about 1mm.

That is impressive!!  Those flutes aint easy to run, I usually break em or my flute doesn't run very far  :o

See I knew you were holding back!!! Cool stuff Jesse..I always agreed with you on the whole jig and pressure theory!! Its totally possible that a jig of bone and wood was made and used..for the nay sayers jigs arent as easy as some may think..it requires equal if not more skill to get everything right and down to a science ..even then stone doesnt always cooperate.  You break a lot of nice preforms to get em right!..Aloha and great work bro. Jesse I stillhave that box of flutes andbroken attempts u sent me years ago for study pieces!...u probably dont remember..lol
