49.5" Osage Unbacked (with video)
« on: August 05, 2013, 08:32:29 pm »
This is a "make me an offer" stave I pickedup from KerryB 2 years ago at The Classic.  The stave was thin ringed and had a knot and deflex kink in the middle.  I began work on it in the spring and took it to Pappy's where I did some work on it, not too much though. ;D  I  took my time chasing the ring and I've found this bow to be super. I've got about 48# at 26".  It's 49.5" from the nocks and 50.5" overall.  I've thought of sinew backing it, but it shoots real well and I don't think I'll mess with it.  I've got other bows that will need the sinew.

Been awhile since I've posted.  Need to put up some stuff that I've meant to.

Anyhow, I'll try to get some finish on it and my favorite cotton string handle grip in the next couple days.

Now that sir, is a bow. Save the sinew for the hounds. Absolutely ideal for a eastern woodlands huntin bow.

Cool little bow! Are you getting finger pinch with the straight tips on such a short bow? You could get a bit more bend it you loosened up the outer 1/3 of each limb but I think you best leave well enough alone.  ;)
