I hold mine by the tip & pull down easy if it starts to pull hard move your hand down the quill so it doesn't tear.

Pat, you don't need to strip feathers. You're the master of the 2-fletched arrow. Hmm got me wondering: could you cut through the quill with and exacto knife then reverse strip by pulling the quill away from the feathers. Gotta try that.
