A long time coming!

I cut and roughed out this stave back in 2008. It was so twisted and funky in the bottom limb that I just set it back and forgot about it. The limbs came in from different angles to the handle. There was some natural setback in the handle and I didn't know how I was gonna straighten it out ( total newb and thought it had to be straight ! lol). To get to the point, here is what came out. Many,many heats sessions and some moments of scratching my head while tillering a bow finally emerged. It's going to a fella in N.Y. ( you know you are) and I hope he likes it. 50# @ 28" of quirky Arkansas Osage.

Real nice tiller, sweet bow, not too much character, just enough to be interesting but a real work horse of a bow.

Looks like you tamed it into a good one Jon. Those staves with the limbs out of the handle differently give me fits too, I have one tillered out to a short draw that I gave up on a few months ago because it was confusing me.   It may be several more months
before I can clear my head and give it another go.

Thanks a lot fellas. I wish I had taken pics before I started working on this stave. You really can't appreciate the level of twist and roller coaster that was in the bottom  limb. I will let the guy whom it's going to  to take better pics of the bow cause I suck at taking pics. I am really proud of this bow but I will stick to making shorties cause that's what I like. I do have somemore stiff handle bows in the works though. I have had to lighten the draw weight on my bows because of my gimpy hand, so I don't really know what I'm progressing towards at the moment.

Nice work Jon. Great looking tiller as usual.  There is a lot to be said for knowing when to set one aside and look at it again later!  That turned out nice.

Cool Jon....n that gimpy hand might force ya to make a few stiff handled bows of lighter poundage and longer than your used to for a smoother easier on the hands draw....or try a r/d molly curve like I've done...there still short,but feels like your pulling on a long elb they're so smooth
