Black Locust and raw hide
« on: April 26, 2013, 01:37:03 am »
This 59 incher weighs in at a light 40 pounds at 27 inches, she is partially backed with raw hide tied off with hemp wrappings and ipe tip overlays.  The ends have been steamed into shape and the belly has been slightly toasted.  The hide is stained with some min wax color that used to match the hardwood floors in my old house, and the whole thing is covered in a dozen or so coats of Tru oil.  A leather handle wrap and strike plate finishes her off.  I sure hope her new owner likes shooting her as much as I liked making her.

That is a sweet one, for sure, RB. Good job!
