Coffee on you camp trips(updated from the Classic)

What kind of untesil's do you take on your hunting/camping trips to make coffee.  Pots, pans, etc.  And if anyone makes coffee with a french press, I would love to hear how you grind your beans for the press.  I am looking for a alternative coffee making method as I saw a guy using a french press at a shoot last year, and loved the idea.  Only thing is I did not see him grind his coffee beans?

how bout a morter and pestle.i got one you can use Charlie.it would take a little elbow grease but would get it done.or you could use a manual spice grinder.

Can't you buy pre-ground coffee in the States?  Here in Ireland, we have to go to specialist shops if we want whole beans - pre-ground is pretty much the only thing most widely available...

I am trying to find a manual bean grinder now Steve.  And yes, we can get whole beans here and have them ground, but after doing some research, they type of grind that the commercial grinder do, is more for the percolator style grind.  Just trying to figure out a good way to get a good cup of coffee, with the least amount of items to take to do so.

At Rendezvous I usually just put the day's roasted beans in a very close woven linen bag, fold it over and let 'er have it with the backside of my small hand axe. 

Grounds set aside until the water in my quart and a half copper billy comes to a boil.  Once at a rolling boil, I take it off the fire, let it set 30 seconds to cool a smidge, and dump in the grounds.  I tend to let it steep for at least 15 minutes so that by then the grounds have fully absorbed all the water they can and have settled out. 

In those 15 minutes, I have whipped up some biscuit mix and have it wound around a stick and roasted over the fire.  Breakfast is ready.

I use regular ground coffee in my press all the time, and it turns out great.  Buy the small 3oz vacuum packed packages and you can have a different flavor every morning.  About half a package in each press does the trick.

What about the old hand grind machines, still see them in the antique shops now and again

Charlie, I have a little ONE bean grinder I can let you have.. Only grinds one bean at a time but works great..

I just make it over the fire with my cowboy coffee maker. Its just a blue perculator type. I bring coffee in ziplocs.

I do like pearl. I have a big one I will make it at night cause it takes so long to perk,then just warm it up till it gone and make another.

I've got a box of individual coffee bags. Just pore boiling water on and let soak like tea.

I pre grind the beans at home. Put the grind in a coffee can with a lid.
