new tool for chasing rings

does anyone have special tools to chase rings, such as character staves or staves with valleys,, I discovered a new tool for staves with valleys and around knots and holes,,it is a spoon plane,,for me it takes place of gooseneck scraper, cleaning out valleys in staves, what used to take an hour now takes minutes,, anybody elese have any special tools?

here are three crook knives that i use when needed



top one is a very old wooding working knife from an alaskan native
middle is a custom made crook knife i designed and had made, mostly for working bows
bottom is yr standard mora crook knife-the mora needs lots of reprofiling and sharpening to be very useful but they are cheap

have used all three for bow making at different times.
also have a curvy cabinet scraper that works well for some applications.
and another homemade scraper that i have ground one edge round and sharpened

I did fairly well on the last one with my new adz !
A friend custom smithed it for me special for this propose !
It has a curved and cupped blade !
Made from an old railroad spike !

those shave hooks are great, I like the spoon plane because u can set it real fine and it wont dig n to far, it seems like  every stave I have has  a valley in it somewhere

I use my drawknife for the lions share, I clean out divets with the round corner of my scraper and then I use 80 grit wrapped around my finger to get the real nasty spots. I like those "scoopers" Ms. Sadie.
