red oak board trade
« on: February 13, 2013, 10:48:37 pm »
I haven't been on much lately, so maybe I missed it, but what's happening with the board bow trade? I'm putting the finishing touches on my trade bow. Thought I would put a paint job on it just for fun, and I've been wanting to do a turkish inspired paint job. So, I hope the recipient will like it. I'd like to get some opinions on it before I send it out. So, here is a little teaser pic of the back. Thanks!!

Thanks fellas. I might add a little more paint to it, but not sure. I typically keep them simple as possible, just felt like doin something different.

That looks really cool!  Nice job!
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?

Thanks everybody!!

I think I'll put a handle wrap, and arrow rest on it, and send it out. Gotta make a string though.

Lostarrow...I broke a couple myself. It seems red oak doesn't steam bend very well. Maybe because the first 2 were so short though. I tried 2, both at 55", and tried to flip the tips, they both broke while bending. I stretched this one out a little, it's just over 61" ;)

I'll add a full draw pic later, after I make the string.
