BBO I made for Pearly Boy
« on: February 05, 2013, 10:55:14 pm »
Chris and I had our own bow swap. He made me a super sweet looking and shooting Osage Self Bow and in return I made him a BBO. Thanks Pearly for the bow, hope you like your BBO as much as I like the bow you sent me.

I use tung oil for the finish. I like it because you have no dust or runs and no steel wool between coats. This bow has 4 coats on it, the more coats the higher the gloss, but I don't like a real high gloss on bows, just my opinion there. Tung Oil is not water proof but it is water repellant and I've never had any problems hunting in the rain with my bows. Also you can apply another coat of tung oil at anytime you like over the years. The tip overlays are Black Buffalo horn, I get it in blocks from Jantz knife making supplies.

Thats one fine lookin' bow there Roy.  Pearly is a lucky guy to get that one.  The only thing I would have done different is maybe a more pinkish dye on it.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

The bow is 64 nock to nock and 55 at 27.5. Clint if I could have scored on pink dye, it would have matched his purse:)

first thoughts when I saw this....."Wo that's cool!"
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?

Very nice clean lines on that bow and I bet the boo & sage combo in that design shoots fast. Nice work Roy.

That one turned out purdy, Roy! Nice finish. Is that mahogany stain?
