I use a band saw for the rough out,belt sander for the tips and hand tools /Farriers rasp/49/50 Nicolas and scrapper for tillering and grip. Love my band saw. :)

Hey, if they had them available in the old days, they would have used them, but it's good to know how to use hand tools, just in case.

I use a bandsaw for rough cuts, and I justify it by the time saved.

But, other than that, I prefer hand tools. There's just something satisfying about putting in the work, and then, having finished, leaning back with sore arms and hands and shoulders, and surveying delicate results, and knowing it was me who did it, not a machine.

But then again, I'm also 36, and just getting started with woodworking and bowyery. When I'm sixty, I may have differing opinions.
