obsidian in pa

 my bro found obsidian on the side of the road and part of a partialy formed obsidian. how is that possible. i didnt think it was. its a good piese too.

Probably hauled out from the west.  It is a proven trade route, with obsidian being traded along it for hundreds of years.  Justin

Its real easy to tell.  Just hold the rock in your hand and smack it with a hammer.  If you still have all your fingers and don't need stitches, its not obsidian.   ;D Justin

ill post pics later i have one piece thats about two pounds and a piesce thats like a quarter of a pound. the light one is half obsidian(like i think it cooled too slowly) its all bubbly .

no its definetly obsidian. if i could take better pics  i could show you but it lookds like obsidian crystals on top and lava on bottom. here is a point i just made out of the big chunk.the first one is just a cool lookin  picture.
