One point tonight. Any ideas why i get hand pain?

Heres a point i made tonight, its supposed to be a fishing point. The bottom pic represents what it would look like if it were hafted. Let me know if you would consider it fishing worthy. Also, i have been getting shooting pain from pressure flaking. anybody else get this? its on the bottom of my hand near my pinkie. i want to fix this or just learn to deal with it.

Proper platforms,& angles. When I first started knapping I hurt. I was using too much force to remove flakes. It normal doesn't take much to knap. Proper platforms & angles are the rule in knapping. My opinion.  Tower

Your points are a living proof of that. i will try as many as i can to see if i can apply less pressure. How should i go about thinning it, i almost always break them trying to thin them with precusion, however, its what ive seen and heard of people doing.

Tower is right proper platform and technique you shouldent have any pain in your hands pressure flakeing. Maybe your muscles in your hands have gotten use to that style of work Your prolly using small muscles you normally dont use it will get better as you learn more on the minimum pressure it takes the run a flake

I think any point with a little width or barbs will work for fishing. That one should do a great job.

Haven't tried knapping yet, it's on my 'have a go' list.
Hmmm a fishing pen, just the job for any fish I get I my computer desk
