native South American Ipe WARBOW!!
« on: September 09, 2012, 03:39:43 am »
hehehe guys. SO I got a hold of some nice ipe, a board that had good grain. I was asked by a university in Spain to make them a 100lbs south american style bow. So I made this, its only 110lbs @ 32 inches draw. I couldnt draw it past 27-28 with one hand though. Here are a few shots of it. The university is going to use this to shoot very long arrows and record the distance, I guess it may be an anthropological study.
Let me know what yall think

V good tiller.
Looks really great, what sort of cross section is it? I've seen some S American bows which were almost triangular in section.
Be sure to post a link to any peper or results they get, it would be great to know how it performs.
Love the decoration too.

Nice job. How long is it?

Thanks guys! The length of the bow is 78 Inches long, its about 1.30 inches wide at the handle. They requested I make the cros section as circular as possible, I would say the last 18 inches are circular and then in the center its more oval like. I asked the guy to let me know of any results and pictures, hope fully he comes accross. Ill be sure to let you know what they find.

real nice bow man, but i don't think the draw length in south america is anywhere close to 32", from what i've seen the have a fairlly short draw, Bub
