Osage bow...hot off the Stavepress (arrow pics added further down)
« on: September 02, 2012, 08:26:36 pm »
Here's one I just finished up. A big thanks to Kerry at "Whitetail Osage" for a real nice piece of wood and for lots of good advise on coaxing a bow out of a stave. The diamondback skin came from Mike Yancey (who showed me how to properly apply the skins to a bow I built at Ojam...thanks Mike).

She is 63in. ntn and 50lbs. @ 28in.  She shoots quick and quiet and right where the eye is look'in.

I'm going to team her up with some cane shafts and bone heads that weigh in at 150 grains + or - 10 grains...I am really wanting to see how they do on some Missouri whitetail.

Thanks to all who have shared their knowledge and put up with my 1001 questions...you have all been a blessing.

No one is here to take the money shot, but here she is strung...it tillered out really nice.

Very nice looking bow and arrows. No doubt you got one that will take down one of them missouri whitetails, how about a full draw pic of
that osage & snake beauty. Good luck this hunting season, hope you get your deer.

Really nice job and I am really impressed with the arrows. How about a close up?

Really nice job on a snakey stave! Like the cane arrows as well. Post some pics of the bone points after a pass through ;)

Thanks guys...yeah the tips are cow horn. The arrows are cane shafts with some goose feathers that I harvested last fall off the pond in front of the house. (no gas money involved) The bone tips are from cow as well...they seem to hold up well...I have really put the one I use for practice to the test and it is amazing. They are the classic 3:1 ratio. 3 in. long/ 1 in. wide. I am told deer bone is denser and antelope is the best.

Wonderful work. Both the bow and arrows look fantastic.
